Some small text transition


After being kind of lost with what to do next i decided to go about mograph text items and figuring out a bit more about this.

Was interesting, learned some new techniques. Not too much exciting news.

Next Limit – RealFlow


As my current interest alongside the study is still  3D motion graphics, as i wanted to try something different now. I had two primary options, go for another program like 3dsmax, houdini,blender etcetera. But as Cinema4D works very well for me currently I decided to look for something that could add to the cinema experience.

Not to long after looking i found real flow, a fluid particle engine. Which is basically THE program if you have anything to do with 3D and fluids, whether that be fluids on sea scale or on aquarium scale. Integration with cinema took about 2 hours to figure out completely, and the program itself is very easy to start out with, obviously to achieve amazing results for specific scenario’s this is an aweful lot more work as this requires a lot of experience with the program or a lot of calculations.

Also while working with realflow I grasped the possibility to render multipasses separately for the first time. which brought me some very interesting views.

Multipass Shadow


This is the shadow map, Which basically gives you a very nice view of plain shapes and their shadows.



This is the reflection map, which shows reflection where applicable. Gives mayor control over where you want extreme reflection etc.


This is specular reflection, which is basically the straight line reflection. So the whites are points that reflect light straight into the camera.


Anyways this is one of the very first tests.

More reflection fixed the mistake.

Real flow has been treating me very well, and i will try to continue with this.

Introduction to Telecommunication.


As much as the current smart tech track has been unorganised, this course was organised. Structure from beginning to the end, all of the tests were introduced in the first lecture. A course like this shows how a teacher can achieve a lot of interest and very low fail rates, by just putting a bit more attention in his/her course.

FOr a course we have been working with databases and php, which was actually really interesting.

Not only has it given us a small insight, but also gave us the opportunity to really create something, the task was to create a forum, which can import tweets that belong to specific topics create in your forums.

One of the most important things learned in this course is that, whatever you might create, security can never be strong enough, but you got to weigh the risks before implementing all of the security you can think of.

Part of an animation i’ve been working on is the following, some soft meshes that are completely filled with spheres. They will bounce on each other.

Ambient screens


For the one project we have had this year, we were supposed to think of a creative way to interface screens. However when we first presented our idea we discovered that the teacher did not care about screens, but merely about a project that he liked. He pushed us in areas we did not want to go, but we did it. We worked through drupal/chats and social games. To make a dating bar concept.

No practical work in the study


As this second year has been different for all of us CreaTers, no project work and lots of knowledge processing. I felt like missing out on actual creation of stuff. So I started looking into some stuff and a friend showed me Cinema 4D which is a 3D modeling and animation program which can be licensed to students for free. I mostly working on Motion graphics with it and just exploring the possiblies, this is what i’ve been spending lots of my time on lately. I will not publish all of my Cinema 4D work here. I will take this one post to show you what i’ve been working on. And elaborating on what i’ve learned so far as opposed to what i would still like to learn.

This is a pillow that has been made with the Cloth tool which this is obviously merely an introduction to, and on the sides there are some hairs which im actually quite satisfied with. Colors are based on my own pillow, and the texture has been displaced for a mildy more realistic look.

Then some trying with the tracer tool, which is very useful but does not on itself grant nice results.

A first try at some dynamics, the following is a cloner object for all the small balls. Where the big ball rolls along and pushes the balls away to follow it’s path.

This was a small test of how you can combine the cloth module with explosions.

In there i’ve been working with a mere cube and deformers, such as spherify, twist, bend etcetera.

Project Introduction to Mathematics and Modelling


In this project we were given the assignment to create a swarm moving within processing. To further work on our programming skills in this program.

The cigarette top generates particles that follow a lissajous figure. Representing smoke.


From then on the smoker fades away. And the particles follow a path of a mushroom. Coloring the particles red and white based on their position.



The project was a very nice insight in cascaded programming and working with particle systems. The end result however is not quite as satisfactory, because in the animation you do not really see the math in the background.
